Nine funny foot facts

Did you know that...

There are those things that are just fun to know or to tell by. Facts about your feet for example!

Fact 1.
Women are four times as likely to suffer from foot problems than men. This is by wearing high heels too long. Yet it is best to swap those hip needle heels more often for comfortable sneakers!

Fact 2.
Your foot consists of 26 bones, 33 joints, 107 joint straps and 10 muscles or tendons.

Fact 3.
All bones in both feet together form a quarter of all bones in your body.

Fact 4.
With a pedometer you would probably measure that you are walking around seven kilometers a day. A person of 70 years, then walked about four times around the earth.

Fact 5.
You can better paint your toenails first with a colorless lacquer (basecoat). Your nail is quite porous and if you only apply a colored lacquer, your nail will eventually discolor.

Fact 6.
Shopping for shoes is best done at the end of the day. After a day of shopping, your feet are swollen and you need about one size bigger. Imagine having your (yet) slim feet in a pair of fantastic shoes in the morning and must pull out those beautiful shoes during the day because they pinch. Not to mention all the consequences such as (blisters, calluses, corns).

Fact 7.
According to different medicine, your feet reflect your health. The first symptoms of diseases, such as cardiovascular problems, occur first at your feet.

Fact 8.
It is almost a miracle if you do not have sweaty feet. Two feet together have about 250,000 sweat glands that parting out more than a quarter liter of moisture a day.

Fact 9.
You can measure yourself what shoe size you really have. Stand barefoot on a piece of cardboard and draw the perimeter. Take the picture of the largest foot and measure the distance from the tip of the big toe to the heel. That is your foot length. In the table below you will find the shoe size.
